Market News

Serious Forklift Incident

Last week, a serious incident occurred in the market between a pedestrian and a forklift. The pedestrian was struck by a two-tonne forklift and thrown a distance.
The pedestrian involved in the incident was treated in hospital and thankfully will be ok, but it could have been much worse.

The safety of all market users is our number one priority. While forklifts are essential for work at the market, when they are not being used safely, they have the potential to cause serious injury and even death.
Remember…

Parking Bay Relocations

The construction of the undercover parking solar canopies are well underway. After the last few weeks of preparation works, it is now time to begin putting the upright columns in place for the first canopies.

This is an exciting project for the market community, but large-scale construction of this size is not without some disruptions.

As of Monday night/Tuesday morning (24th/25th May), the first group of parking bays will be temporarily relocated. The first relocation will be in place until the 6th July 2021.

Click the following link to view the pdf with all parking allocations: View the PDF here.

The MMA will keep up-to-date information on the market website regarding the construction project, including any parking relocations to minimise disruption to businesses ➡️ https://melbournemarkets.com.au/news-events/canopy-project-update/.
