The trial traffic changes at Buyers’ Walk exits B and D, and proposed one-way traffic on the trading floor will be postponed until further notice. We are currently working with market stakeholders and traffic management experts to devise the most effective solution to improve safety as well as logistical efficiency in these two areas. Hort Connections Last week members of the MMA team, Fresh State, and other central markets attended the annual Hort Connections conference in Brisbane. Hort Connections is Australia and New Zealand’s premier horticulture conference bringing together over 3,000 professionals from across the fresh produce industry. Australia’s Fresh Produce Markets, which includes all the central markets and their respective chambers, were major event sponsors of the conference with a massive display in the centre of the trade show. With our colourful and vibrant array of fresh produce, the Fresh Produce Markets stand was a focal point of the event and promoted the critical role central markets play in the horticulture supply chain. Pictured above: Members of the A better choice! teams from central markets all around Australia Vale Joseph Goegan The MMA and Market community offer condolences to the family of Joseph “Hydro Joe” Goegan, who recently passed away after a short battle with cancer. Joseph was a veteran of the Melbourne Market, with over 40 years in the industry. Born and raised in Werribee, he spent most of his years on the hydroponic lettuce farm after meeting his wife, Teresa in Italy while on vacation. Joe leaves behind his son Michael, daughters Bernadette and Veronica and four grandchildren. His funeral will be held at St Andrews in Werribee, Tuesday 21 June. Rest in Peace, Joseph.
