Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

The Melbourne Market, including the fruit and vegetable market and the flower market, remains open with regular trading hours; we are essential in Victoria’s fresh produce supply chain.

The following COVIDSafe rules are now in place at the Melbourne Market:

  • Fitted face masks are required to be worn at all times while on market land, in both indoor and outdoor locations,
  • Market cafes are restricted to take away service only,
  • Social distancing must be strictly adhered to, you must keep 1.5 metres from others wherever possible,
  • Access to the market is limited to essential personnel only,
  • Only one person per electric vehicle or buggy,
  • Social distancing must be strictly adhered to, you must keep 1.5 metres from others wherever possible.

Reducing the risk of COVID-19 at the Market

The critical piece of advice for Market users is, if you are feeling unwell, get tested immediately and isolate until you receive a negative result.

You should also regularly check to see if you have attended any COVID exposure sites and follow relevant testing and isolation advice.

Do not attend the Market for work, or to purchase flowers or produce, if you are:

  • Feeling unwell in any way,
  • are identified as a COVID close contact,
  • or have attended a tier 1 or 2 exposure site.

When at the Melbourne Market, you must:

  • Think about how you can alter your daily tasks to minimise direct close contact with others around you,
  • Do not shake hands, hug, kiss hello or similar,
  • Wash and sanitise hands regularly,
  • Keep a distance of at least 1.5 metres between yourself and fellow Market users,
  • Wear your face mask at all times.

As an essential part of the food and flower supply chain, it is critical we continue to do all that we can to minimise the risks associated with COVID-19.

Locate a trader at the Melbourne Market

Some market users have indicated that they are experiencing slow responses on the Melbourne Market mobile app. While we are working to fix the issue, an easy workaround is to use the ‘locate a trader’ feature on the Melbourne Market website from your mobile phone.

The MMA needs your consent before adding or changing these publicly available contact details, so if you notice your business details are incorrect, or you are not listed and would like to be, please e-mail us at info@melbournemarket.com.au.

Watch the easy user guide video below to see how you can use and save the ‘locate a trader’ feature on the Melbourne Market website on your phone. ➡️ https://melbournemarkets.com.au/finding-your-way/locate-a-trader/.

Parking bay relocations

The first group of parking bays have been relocated while the upright supporting beams for the first canopies are put into place. This first group of parking bays will be relocated until the 6th of July. During this time, we ask for your cooperation and patience while the construction of the undercover parking solar canopies continues.

The MMA will keep up-to-date information on the market website regarding the construction project, including any parking relocations to minimise disruption to businesses ➡️ https://melbournemarkets.com.au/news-events/canopy-project-update/.

Questions
If you have any questions about the parking relocation or the undercover parking project, please contact customer service.

Sharing the Shop & Win spirit

Last week, the Victorian A better choice! team visited The Happy Apple and Harmony Market, both members of the A better choice! program. It was great to speak with them and to see their fruit and veg stores stocked with the freshest of quality.

We spoke with Tony from The Happy Apple Greengrocer, which was nominated as the latest Shop & Win winners preferred local fruit & veg store, and presented him with the prize that will be given to Sarah. At Harmony Market, we were greeted by Ali and his family who showed us around their new store and all of the amazing Australian produce and products that they supply.
