Coronavirus (COVID-19) update – Wednesday 9 June
In line with the Government’s announcement to ease some COVID restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne, the following rules will apply at the Melbourne Market from 11.59 pm, Thursday 10 June:
- Fitted face masks must continue to be worn indoors, which includes on the trading floor, Buyers’ Walk, flower market, stores, commercial tenancies, offices and in cafes (except when consuming food and drink). Face masks should also be worn outdoors in any situation where social distancing cannot be maintained.
- Market cafes will return to seated service; however, density limits will apply.
- Visitors can re-enter the market, including market tours; however, tours are limited to 5 people (excluding tour guide)
- Social distancing must be strictly adhered to, you must keep 1.5 metres from others wherever possible, therefore the one person per electric vehicle/buggy rule remains in place
- Gates 2 and 3 and the P1 pedestrian turnstile remain closed for now, with all entering vehicle and foot traffic required to come through Gate 1; this ensures that face mask and access card checks can continue. Gate 3 will open for exit only from Thursday 10 June and Gate 2 will reopen for entry and exit from Saturday 12 June.
We ask you to be vigilant and continue to follow COVIDSafe practices.
- Do not attend the Melbourne Market if you are feeling unwell.
- If you are experiencing COVID symptoms, get tested and isolate until you receive a negative result.
Changing restriction levels in the future
These changes to the Melbourne Market’s COVID restrictions reflect Victoria’s current risk level; however, they are easily and quickly amendable. Should COVID risk factors in Victoria change, or social distancing in the market is not adequately followed, rules can be re-implemented to keep the market community safe and businesses operational.
Thank you to all those market users who have continued to do the right thing and follow the Melbourne Market’s COVIDSafe rules.
