COVID-19 testing requirement – Thursday 30th September 2021

The DHHS has completed a review of recent COVID cases at the Melbourne Market and has recommended as a matter of caution that ALL persons who attended the site on the dates listed below get a COVID surveillance test as soon as possible. You do not need to isolate while you wait for the results of the surveillance test (unless you are experiencing COVID symptoms).

Monday 13th September
Tuesday 14th September
Wednesday 15th September
Thursday 16th September
Sunday 19th September
Monday 20th September
Tuesday 21st September
Wednesday 22nd September

Public health officers from the DHHS have made this recommendation to ensure there is no undetected COVID transmission happening within the market. Plus, given the amount of community transmission in the surrounding suburbs, the DHHS also believe this may identify unrelated cases and prevent further and potentially larger disruptions.

If you attended the site on the dates listed above, please visit a COVID testing site as soon as possible and tell them you are undertaking a COVID surveillance test at the request of the DHHS.
If your COVID surveillance test returns a positive result, you should immediately call the MMA on 0408 334 555.

For the approximately 150 market users who have been identified as close contacts over the past few weeks, you should continue your 14-day isolation period as directed and get your test on day 13 from the exposure as planned. You do not need to undertake a surveillance test.

Please ensure this communication is forwarded to all staff, contractors or visitors, who attended the site on the dates listed above.

Any individuals or businesses who knowingly fail to notify the MMA of positive COVID-19 cases, or provide false or misleading information and documents relating to COVID exposures, face serious penalties, including possible suspensions and bans, as well as breach notices issued.
