Hirmis Brikha is one of the positive COVID-19 cases. Due to the nature of his role, dealing with many market users, he has consented to his name being released so those who have come into contact with him can immediately isolate and get a COVID test. We wish Hirmis and all other COVID infected individuals a speedy recovery.

If you have attended the exposure locations for the dates listed, or you know you have come into contact with Hirmis, you must get tested and should isolate for 14 days or until further notice.

The MMA is continuing to review CCTV footage to detect close contacts where possible, but we are also relying on the market community to do the right thing by getting tested and isolate if you know you have been exposed.

Every Melbourne Market user who attended the site during the days and times listed should monitor for symptoms. If symptoms develop, you should immediately get a COVID-19 test and isolate until you receive a negative result.

If you are a Business Principal or manager, you must contact your staff tonight, before they make their way to the Melbourne Market, to ensure they are aware of the situation and do not attend the Market if they have been to the exposure locations listed.

Additional exposure locations relating to these cases may be identified as further internal contract tracing is carried out.

There is no evidence at this stage that these cases or the other recent market COVID cases are linked, but as positive case numbers rise in Victoria the likelihood of infected individuals entering the market becomes greater.

You must follow COVIDSafe practices:

– If you feel unwell, do not attend the market. Get tested and isolate until you receive a negative test result
– Get your COVID-19 vaccination
– Wear your face mask over your mouth and nose at all times
– Ensure you are keeping 1.5 metres from others
– Do not shake hands or come into close contact with others
