Melbourne Market Vaccination Hub Success
With 3,009 Pfizer vaccinations administered on-site over 15 days, the Melbourne Market Vaccination Hub has been a great success.
Well done to the market community for coming out in force and rolling up your sleeves to get the jab.
Securing a vaccination clinic on-site took the MMA several months of advocating on behalf of our market community, so we are proud that so many people took up the offer of on-site vaccination. It confirms your amazing commitment to protecting your loved ones, your businesses and the fresh produce supply chain.
The Melbourne Market Vaccination Hub was one of the first of its kind for industry and due to its success the Department of Health is now looking to replicate a similar model for other on-site vaccination clinics.

Second Pfizer doses
Throughout the past three weeks, the most common question has been, ‘Will Austin Health return to administer second doses?‘ Since beginning our campaign to get a vaccination clinic on site, the MMA has been advocating for this outcome.
We are pleased that the Department of Health have confirmed Austin Health will return to the Melbourne Market to administer second-dose Pfizer vaccinations from Monday 11 October.
There is significant demand for vaccines across Victoria, with many large work sites, businesses and schools looking to roll out on-site first-dose vaccinations. Because of this, our second doses will run a little different, with Austin Health coming back on site for a one-week second-dose ‘mega-blitz’.
It is expected second doses will be quicker to administer; however, market users may experience longer wait times at our Vaccination Hub than was with first-doses, given the condensed time frame.

The Melbourne Market Vaccination Hub will open each morning from 5 am – 12 pm from Monday 11 October to Friday 15 October.

The process will work the same, with a walk-up service and no bookings required. You will need to bring your Medicare card and a form of photo ID with you again.

If you had your first Pfizer vaccine dose at the market, you are not restricted to getting your second dose at the market; you are welcome to book in at any state-run vaccination clinic to get your second dose if you would prefer.

Questions
We will provide more information about second-dose Pfizer vaccinations at the market as we get closer to 11 October; however, in the meantime please send any questions you have about the vaccination process to submission@melbournemarket.com.au.
