Vehicle Registration Process

To ensure all Market vehicles are safe and compliant, they must be registered with the MMA and VicRoads as well as undergo a Vehicle Examination with an MMA Service Provider. To ensure your electric vehicle is correctly registered follow the steps below.

Download the Vehicle Pack here, which will provide all the details you need to ensure your vehicle is properly registered.

If you have any questions please contact Customer Service.

Restraints Deadline 30 June

A reminder, to comply with WorkSafe Victoria advice, all market-approved vehicles must have an appropriate restraint/s fitted. This requirement applies to all electric vehicles, such as golf buggies, Taylor Dunns and forklifts, regardless of the year of manufacture. Once restraints have been fitted, you must complete the MMA vehicle registration process as outlined above.

WorkSafe expects all market-approved vehicles to be fitted with appropriate restraints by 30 June 2023 and have advised they will be visiting the Melbourne Market to check compliance. For any queries regarding the restraint requirement, please contact WorkSafe Victoria on 1800 136 089.

National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

Market Advisory Committee Meetings

The Market Advisory Committees will be meeting on Tuesday, 13 June and Wednesday, 14 June. You can ask your advisory committee members to raise questions or ideas with the MMA.

Advisory committees work with the Melbourne Market Authority to advise on matters relating to Market operations and the fresh produce industry. Committee members are a great source of information and advice for Market users. To find out who the members of the advisory committees are, please visit the MMA website.
