Market Industry Open Day Success

Last Thursday the MMA hosted the Melbourne Market’s third industry Open Day, offering industry members, hospitality workers, people in food manufacturing, and the general public a chance to see all the Melbourne Market and National Flower Centre have to offer.

There were 48 registrants who largely registered after visiting our stand at the Food Services Australia Exhibition. There were also attendees who had expressed interest in seeing the NFC after visiting our retail store at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.

The day was a huge success, with respondents rating it an average of 9.3/10 in our post-event survey. Guests have now been encouraged to sign up for an access card or contact the MMA for a list of provedores to become an end-user of the market.

A massive thank you to all of the wholesalers who offered their time and even samples to make the day as exciting and educational as possible for our guests.

Feature in the next A better choice! advertising campaign

A better choice! are currently workshopping a new advertising campaign, celebrating everything great about local fruit and veg shops over the years!

They are looking for photos of fruiterers and fruit shops from yesteryear! If you have any old photos from back in the day, whether you are a grower in the market or a greengrocer the A better choice! team would love to see them. Please email all photos to Zac.

Correct Pallet Disposal

Plain pallets have been identified as a major fire risk and invite rodent infestation when left out, particularly when left behind stores and up against the main building. Because of this, all pallets must be returned to the yellow recycling cages.

There are 26 yellow recycling cages conveniently placed around the market. You can find your nearest yellow recycling cage in the map below marked by a blue X.

If pallets are left behind after morning trade, including in the licenced areas behind stores, they will be removed and taken to one of the cages at a cost to your business.

Free RAT tests available

Winter is coming, so we invite all market users to head to customer service to collect a RAT kit to help identify if you or a family member is suffering from COVID-19. Please be aware RAT tests do have an expiry date and it is up to market users to check this before completing the test to ensure an accurate reading.

Shop and Win Campaign – Now concluded

We have drawn our final prize-winners for the Shop and Win campaign, which has officially concluded.

Congratulations to our week 9 Winners, Greavesy’s Fruit and Veg, who have a lucky customer taking home a Breville Barista Coffee Machine!

The prestigious “Retailer of the Year, People’s Choice Award” will be drawn on Wednesday 21 July and we are very excited to see which store will be awarded Victoria’s favourite Fruit and Veg shop!

Don’t forget to remove all Shop and Win collateral from your stores.
