With so many different opinions and business types using the Market on a daily basis, the criteria used when making a decision about Market hours include:
- Travel times and traffic congestion;
- Strength and resilience of the Market;
- Impact on produce quality;
- Impact on supply chain integrity;
- Staffing, quality of life and workplace health and safety; and
- Operational efficiency.
What’s next?
Consider some different trading hour scenarios and how they would impact your business. What are the pros and cons of starting earlier or starting later?

Reminder – Forklift and Electric Vehicle storage
Thank you to everyone who’s started cleaning up their forklift and electric vehicle storage areas in EFS 1, 2 and 3. We’ve seen a great improvement this week.
As we prepare for renumbering the bays to increase efficiencies in these storage areas, we would like to remind all forklift and electric storage bay users to:
- Remove all rubbish, pallets or bins. These areas are for forklifts and electric vehicles only.
- Park in your allocated bay. If your unsure of your bay allocation, contact the MMA on 9258 6100.

Have your say on the future of Australia’s measurement system
Business.gov.au invite you to have your say on the future of Australia’s measurement system.
How do I know if the measurement system effects me?
The measurement system impacts everyone. But if your business produces, imports, sells or buys goods or services based on measurement, having your say is particularly important.
How does measurement affect my business?
The measurement system protects both consumers and businesses, to ensure they receive the correct weight, volume or length of goods that they’ve paid for.
For example, if your business sells fresh produce by the kilogram, the trade measurement system helps you make sure that you’re selling precisely 1 kilogram.
Why is the measurement policy being reviewed?
The policy objectives of Australia’s measurement system are being reviewed to ensure that they best serve the needs of Australian businesses, consumers and government.
A Discussion Paper has been developed to get you thinking about the potential changes and issues that impact Australia’s trade measurement system.
The National Measurement Institute (NMI) is responsible for Australia’s measurement system.
