Parking permit renewals now over due – don’t risk losing your parking allocation
All 2015/16 parking permits stickers have now expired. All current parking permit holders were issued with new 2016/17 permits enclosed with their quarterly invoice in early June.
Invoices were due for payment by 30 June 2016. If your account remains unpaid, you must take the following actions immediately to avoid losing your allocated parking bay and restricted access to the Market.
- Make sure your 2016/17 permit is paid in full.
- Remove old (rectangular) permits from your vehicle and replace with your new 2016/17 (oval) permit.
Please note, parking permit stickers are not valid until payment has been made. In accordance with operating rule 11.3 (a) a person parking on Market land must display a valid parking permit authorising the vehicle to park in that parking space.
Parking permit FAQs
Q. I have unreserved passenger parking, why did I not receive a new permit sticker?
A. Market users with unreserved passenger parking located in P1 are no longer required to display a parking permit. Parking permit quarterly fees must still be paid to avoid restricted access to the Market.
Q. I have a warehouse lease inclusive of a parking permit. What do I need to do?
A. By now, warehouse tenants should have received their parking permits from either the MMA (warehouse 5 & 6) or Property Link. While no payment is required, these permits must be displayed on vehicles using allocated parking bays. If you have not received your permit contact the MMA (warehouse 5 & 6) or Property Link. Warehouse 5&6 permits were delivered to warehouse mailboxes, week commencing 27 June 2016.
Q. I no longer need one or more of my parking permit/s.
A. If you no longer require one or more of your enclosed permits visit the Customer Service Centre in person to return your permit and have the quarterly parking charge removed from your account.
Parking permit stickers are the property of the MMA. Canceled permits that are not returned to the MMA will be charged at $30 (including GST) per sticker.
Q. A number of my vehicles interchangeably use my allocated bay. Can I get duplicate permits?
A. Yes, you can apply for a duplicate permit for additional vehicles.
Duplicate permits will be charged at $30 (including GST) per permit. Please contact the Customer Service Centre to pay for and pick up a duplicate permit.

Licence fee annual increases
On July 1, licence fees with the MMA increased by 4%. This is as per licence agreements and the quarterly invoice from July reflects this increase. This equates to $91.96 (including GST) per quarter based on a 5 day licence.
Traditionally, all other general Market fees (e.g. access cards, parking) increased by a fixed 4% on 1 January. No increase was applied on 1 January 2016 as we settled into our new site. The next increase on general Market fees will occur on 1 January 2017.
Store leases and warehouse leases increase will occur 31 August or the anniversary of the lease term.

Power surge on Thursday 30 June
On Thursday last week at approximately 10:45am, there was a power surge to the Market site. The source of the surge was from outside the Market and therefore beyond our control.
The MMA responded to the surge immediately focusing on investigating any impact on the central cooling plant. We’re pleased to report, the surge had no impact on the central plant. Two store tenancies were affected due to a trip in their PLC board, however power, and therefore cooling, were returned to their store by 1:30pm.
Power was returned to all tenancies and the MMA continued to monitor tenancies supply of glycol throughout the day.
