In today’s Market news, Anzac Day trading hours, Children in the Market this week, a reminder about the MMA’s drug and alcohol awareness training program and access card renewal invoices are now overdue.

Market News

Anzac Day trading hours

The Fruit and Vegetable Market will be closed on Wednesday 25 April 2018 for the Anzac Day public holiday.

The following trading hours will apply for the Fruit and Vegetable Market:

  • Tuesday 24 April: Normal trading hours
  • Wednesday 25 April: Closed
  • Thursday 26 April: Normal trading hours

If your parking permit only allows access on a day where a public holiday falls, and you would like to come to the Market on an alternative adjacent day (for example your parking permit is for a Wednesday and you would like to access the Market on Thursday 26 April), you will not be charged for parking and can enter the Market. However please note, your regular bay may not be available. Please seek instruction from a Market Relations Officer on arrival.

Warehouse access remains unchanged. Access for warehouse tenants is 24 hours 7 days a week

Children in the Market this week

Don’t forget children will be visiting the Market with their family members or guardians today and tomorrow.

Please be mindful of their presence and ensure you operate an electric vehicle or forklift safely at all times.

Drug and alcohol awareness training for managers

A reminder the MMA will hold a drug and alcohol awareness training session for business principals and managers next Thursday 19 April.

The session will cover:

  • Risks for your business and how to manage them
  • The impact of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
  • How to identify whether employees are affected by drugs and alcohol at work
  • How to approach and respond to employees affected by drugs and alcohol

The session will be led by Martin de Graaf, Manager, Health and Community, Melbourne Polytechnic.

Martin has worked for many years in education and the community services sector and has a great deal of experience as an alcohol and other drug counsellor and educator.

Access card renewals

A reminder unpaid access card invoices are now overdue.

Business principals are advised to pay their access card renewal invoice in full if they have not done so already to avoid disruption to your access to the Melbourne Market.

Payment methods

  1. Visit the Customer Service Centre between 4:00am and 11:00am and pay via cash, credit card or debit card*.
  2. Pay online via the MMA website at www.melbournemarket.com.au/running-you-business/fees-and-payments.
  3. Pay over the phone via credit card by phoning 03 9258 6123.
  4. Pay via BPAY – look for the BPAY details on the bottom of your invoice.

    Thank you to those businesses which have paid the renewal invoice.

Industry News

Greengrocery Training Program enrolments

Melbourne Polytechnic is now taking enrolments for the Greengrocery Training Program.

The program consists of two training courses:

  • Certificate 2 in Greengrocery
  • Certificate 3 in Greengrocery

Both courses have been developed specifically for those wishing to have a career within the Greengrocery industry.

Melbourne Polytechnic representatives will have pop up stands at the Melbourne Market on the following dates from 5am to 7.30am:

  • Tuesday 10 April
  • Wednesday 11 April
  • Wednesday 18 April

Come along and meet with them to discuss your training options and enrol in one of the two courses.

Melbourne’s North Food Group

NORTH Link has established Melbourne’s North Food Group, a central cluster organisation servicing the food and beverage manufacturing sector and supply chain businesses in Melbourne’s North.
