Keep you eyes peeled for the flower seller from Mr Fresh who will be walking around the Fruit and Vegetable Market on Wednesday 14 February selling roses from 3:00am until sold out.

Lunar New Year Celebrations

The Market will be celebrating the year of the dog for the Lunar New Year on Tuesday 20 February with a traditional lion dance.

Starting at 5.00am, the performers will begin at the South end of the Buyers’ Walk, near J&J’s Café. The lion will make its way down the Buyers’ Walk finishing at the North end near Sportsman Café at 6.00am before making their way to the Flower Market.

There will be a central performance for the Trading Stands at approximately 5:30am. This performance will be held in the centre walkway between the Trading Stands and the Buyers’ Walk, just next to the Customer Service Centre.

We would like to also remind all Market users that only a licenced pyrotechnician who has received relevant approvals may discharge firecrackers. Market users are not permitted to discharge firecrackers on Market grounds at any time.

Bird cannon in the Flower Market

To deter birds from nesting the Flower Market, a bird deterrent cannon is being trialled beginning Monday 19 February. The cannon will be located on the east wall of the Flower Market and will fire a very loud blast every 40 seconds Monday to Friday between 11:30am and 2:00pm.

There is no impact on Market operations during the use of the cannon.

Registrations are now open for the Melbourne Market Golf Day on Friday 16 March 2018 at the Heidelberg Golf Club. This day traditionally sells out fast and there are a limited number of team places available so get your entries in quick!.Run by the Fresh State in conjunction with the Melbourne Market Authority, Melbourne Market Lions Club every dollar made is donated directly to our nominated charity DEBRA Australia

This is always a great afternoon and evening and 2018 is looking better than ever. We have not one but THREE major hole-in one prizes on offer.
