Melbourne Market on show this morning

A reminder from 6:00am this morning nearly 150 local and international delegates from wholesale and retail markets will be visiting the Market for a tour and breakfast, as part of the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) Congress which started yesterday.

Assist in showing off the world’s best Market by keeping your work area especially clean and tidy.

Delegates may wish to have a chat about your produce too.

Melbourne Cup public holiday

A reminder the Market will be closed on Tuesday 7 November 2017 for the Melbourne Cup.The Fruit and Vegetable Market will open at 3:30am on Wednesday 8 November 2017.

Warehouse access remains unchanged on public holidays. Access for warehouse tenants is 24 hours 7 days a week.

LED lighting update

Work is continuing in the Buyers’ Walk this week with LED fluorescent lighting to be installed on the mezzanine.

Please note there will be no scissor lifts in operation during this time.

Thank you for your cooperation so far and I’m sure we can all agree the improved lighting will be worth it!

Office space for rent

Do you need an office at the Melbourne Market or need some extra space to conduct business?

The Melbourne Market Administration Building has been revamped and only one office remains available for rent on the ground floor.

It’s in a prime location at the entry to the Administration Building.

Wear your high-vis vest at all times

There are hundreds of vehicles, including forklifts, trucks and electric vehicles, operating across the site on a daily basis.You must wear your Australian-standard high-vis vest at all times to ensure you are visible to help keep you safe.

Applications open for Middle East trade show

Exporting vegetable growers are invited to apply to attend the premier fresh produce trade show in the Middle East, World of Perishables Dubai, from 5-7 December 2017.

The anticipated travel dates for successful participants will be 1–8 December 2017 and the program will involve the following opportunities:

  • Exhibit and showcase your products at World of Perishables to fresh produce buyers from the Middle East region
  • Participate in an in-market study tour to Kuwait directly prior to World of Perishables
  • Participate in an in-market supply chain visit in Dubai
  • Access a range of business development opportunities in Dubai
