New smoking laws come into effect

The State Government has introduced new smoke-free area laws which come into effect today.

This means smoking at all outdoor dining areas will be banned when food is available for consumption to protect the community from exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke.

The MMA is currently reviewing all existing external smoking areas to determine whether they’re eligible and further communication will be provided once the review is completed.

If you cease using a market vehicle including a forklift or electric vehicle, you are required to inform the MMA to stop any future charges for these items.
