Children in the Market trial – today and tomorrow
This morning you may notice some children in the Market, these children have been pre-registered with the MMA to come along to the Market as part of a two day trial.
Please be aware of children as you move around the Market and take extra care when operating vehicles.
About the trial
Children under 15 years of age are not permitted in the Market in the interests of their safety. However the MMA recognises for some families, providing children exposure to the Market is part of the education process to ensure they’re equipped to one day manage the family business.
As a result, the MMA has relaxed this rule on two days only during the September school holidays, today and tomorrow.
The details:
- All children entering the Market must be pre-registered and approved by the MMA.
- The trial will be limited to the first 100 registered children.
- Employees must have the approval of their business nominee prior to submitting their form to the MMA.
Please note, any unregistered children found on site will need to be immediately removed by the responsible adult. A breach of the conditions of the trial or Market Operating Rules will incur penalties for the Access Card holder and their employer.
Any breaches in the trial will result in the immediate cessation of the trial.
To register your child for the tomorrow’s trial you must submit your form to the MMA no later than midday today, Tuesday 27 September.
