ANZAC Day Collection Update

The generosity of the market community was on display again last week, with over $3,700 raised in donations for the Epping RSL ANZAC Appeal campaign.

Funds raised help past and current serving men and women with crisis accommodation for at-risk veterans, financial assistance for families, employment support and health and wellbeing programs.

Mother’s Day Flower Campaign

We are pleased to share the National Flower Centre’s 2024 Mother’s Day campaign to support growers, wholesalers, local florists and greengrocers who sell flowers in the lead up to this special day on Sunday, 12 May.

The campaign encourages consumers to ‘show the love this Mother’s Day’ by gifting Mum a bunch of flowers from your local florist or greengrocer. Activities include social media ads, radio ads on the traffic network across most Melbourne metro stations and posters for out of home billboards and to hang in participating stores.

Greengrocers who sell flowers are invited to pick up one of the A2 posters to display in their store, which will be available for collection from the National Flower Centre from this Thursday 2 May.

You can also get involved by sharing Mother’s Day content from the National Flower Centre Facebook and Instagram.

Buyers’ Walk Deep Clean

From yesterday,  Monday, 29 April to Friday, 3 May, between 2pm and 5pm, heavy-duty machinery will be operating on the Buyer’s Walk to undertake a deep clean of the area.

The schedule of the works will run as follows:
Tenancy 1-27 – Monday, 29 April (completed)
Tenancy 29-69 – Tuesday, 30 April
Tenancy 71-103 – Wednesday, 1 May
Tenancy 105-127 – Thursday, 2 May
Tenancy 129-156 – Friday, 3 May

When the area in front of your tenancy is due to be cleaned, please ensure you remove all items, including any equipment and/or products, from the area.

Shop & Win Continues until June 9

Shop & Win continues for another six weeks, where consumers are encouraged to shop at their local greengrocer for the chance to win fantastic prizes each week.

The competition rewards customers of local fruit and veg shops that are a part of the ‘A better choice!’ initiative, with every shop being eligible for a new entry into the competition. Customers can enter by uploading their receipt to the ‘A better choice!’ website.

There are over $19,000 worth of prizes to be won, including a KitchenAid Stand Mixer, a Breville ‘The Barista’ Express Coffee Machine and a Weber 2000n BBQ. All stores with winners will be contacted by Ayse to hand over the prizes and congratulate the winning shoppers.

Seedless fruit demand high and breeding technology improving fast, but price point not there for farmers

In short: Demand for seedless fruit varieties is growing and experts say the genetic breeding technology needed to create them is rapidly improving.
