Children in the Market fun

It was great welcoming back 91 kids for our first Children in the Market event for 2023!

Children enjoyed seeing the Market in action and many familiar faces. The Pat Cronin smoothie bike stand was a massive hit with all the kids and adults. Everyone enjoyed blending their favourite flavours through pedal power while raising funds for a great cause.

The generosity of the Market community was on display again, with almost $800 raised over the two days going towards Grant’s 1500km charity bike ride from Alice Springs to Darwin for the Pat Cronin Foundation.

Grant’s journey started on Monday, 24 April. Keep an eye on the TV screens and the newsletter for weekly updates on his journey.

You can still donate to this wonderful cause via the link below.

Last week a serious incident occurred in the Melbourne Market where a buggy and forklift collided head-on, resulting in a market user being ejected from a vehicle and suffering severe head injuries.

Luckily the injured market user will recover, but not everyone involved in forklift incidents walks away unharmed.

The 7 News video above feature’s Mark’s story from Sydney Markets, who tragically lost his leg in a forklift accident.

The incident at our site, as well as that from Sydney Markets, reminds us all of the critical importance of safety on site.

Everyone has the right to work in a safe environment and leave the site unharmed at the end of each day.
