One-way traffic on Trading Floor Postponed

After discussions with the Advisory Committee, some considerations are being taken into account and the one-way traffic trial will be postponed until further notice.

The 3-month trial will commence upon traffic management consultation and advice.

The video below illustrates the new traffic flow.

If you have any questions, please speak to a Market Relations Officer. We thank you for your support in making the Melbourne Market a safer place for everyone.

Heartkids Hero Day – Save the Date!

Save the date for HeartKids Hero Day at the Market!
Wednesday, June 29 | 5am – 7.30am

We are excited to announce our MCs for the HeartKids Hero Day! You may recognise these loveable larrikins from Gogglebox Australia.

Adam and Symon have been associated with HeartKids for many years, helping raise vital funds for the charity. Expect a number of laughs, stories and entertainment including celebrity guests, superhero appearances, a magician, a handball competition, breakfast, auctions and raffles; all to raise funds for a worthy cause.

Children must be pre-registered before the event and accompanied by their parent or guardian at all times. To register please complete the registration form here and print and return to Customer Service.

Market Advisory Committee Meetings
Last week all four market advisory committees met with MMA Management to discuss relevant market issues.

The MMA provided updates on key projects and initiatives such as, warehousing on the eastern boundary, A better choice! program, upcoming market events, the ‘My MMA Portal’, and more.

As always, a key area of discussion in all four meetings was safety in the market, including some of the recent traffic management changes.

Minutes from all advisory committee meetings are publically available for market users to view on the MMA website. To view the minutes or to learn who your advisory committee members are, please visit the website.

However, your regular bay may not be available. Please see a Market Relations Officer on arrival for instruction.

Melbourne’s North Food Group – Webinar
Melbourne’s North Food Group with NORTH Link, AMES Australia and Australian Apprenticeship Support Network are hosting a webinar highlighting a shrinking labour market. Currently, employers may need to hire employees who might not have the skills and attributes required for a position. The webinar explores the wage subsidies available to employers which can offset the increased risk and cost involved.

Date: Thursday, June 16
Time: 12.00pm-1.00pm
Location: Online

THINK SAFETY
TAKE CARE AT PEDESTRIAN CROSSING
Designated roadways have been set out to ensure pedestrian and market user safety. Forklift drivers must stick to these roadways and allow pedestrians at crosswalks to cross safely.

Traffic Barriers now in place
As previously communicated, traffic barriers are now place at both points of the east side crossover exits between the Buyer’s Walk and undercover carpark canopies (see image below). This safety initiative will be in place for a three-month trial and aims to make the pedestrian crossings at the exits safer for everyone by preventing forklifts from cutting through.

If you have any questions, please speak to a Market Relations Officer. We thank you for your support in making the Melbourne Market a safer place for everyone.

Are you Australia’s Favourite Fruit and Veg Shop?

You may begin to notice temporary signs on the front and inside some wholesale stores within the market.

These signs are designed to create engagement for the A better choice! promotion and the Retailer of the Year award.

Win a Holiday promotion!
We are into week 3 of the promotion and currently have over 110 stores activated!
