Children in the Market

Children in the Market will be back these upcoming school holidays, on Tuesday, 9 and Wednesday, 10 April.

Children must be pre-registered before the event and accompanied by their parent or guardian. Please complete the registration form here, print it, and return it to Customer Service.

A reminder to all market users, that children are only permitted to enter the Market on these two days. Infringements will apply and you will be asked to leave the Market should you bring your children in outside of these days.

*Please note: All submitted forms will be automatically approved unless you are notified otherwise.

Meet Damon Sym-Choon, BGIS Reporting & Compliance Manager

Damon has worked with BGIS for the past 18 months, most recently working on their Healthscope account with Mark Grundy, giving him great experience managing a range of different asset categories and maintaining health and safety standards across 34 hospitals.

Damon will be working closely with operators completing maintenance work around the market, to ensure compliance and that safety standards are met.

Damon has familiarised himself with the market, having worked on site since February and accompanying maintenance teams to the locations they are working around the market.

Vale Laurence Maver

The MMA and Melbourne Market community offer our deepest condolences to the Maver family on the passing of Laurence Maver after losing his battle with cancer last week.

Laurence joined the market community as an MRO in 2019, later transitioning to Gate 1 support, where he established himself as a respected member of the market community.

Funeral notice can be viewed here.

Autumn’s A better choice! magazine is back!

The latest edition of the A better choice! magazine is brimming with recipes and shows off the beautiful produce autumn brings – brussels sprouts, pumpkins, pears, eggplant and apples, to name a few!
We also have profiles of local farmers and insights into what it takes to bring fresh produce to market.

Look out for Ayse delivering your copies in-store, flip through of a copy in one of the market cafes, or read the latest edition online here.

For any magazine delivery enquiries, please contact Ayse at ahalil@abetterchoice.com.au.

Melbourne Market in Star Weekly

Last week, a journalist from Star Weekly visited the market in the lead-up to Easter to learn more about its operations, the produce and most importantly, the people. The article gave great insight into how the market operates and its importance in the fresh produce supply chain. Thank you to John De Muri (Gazzola Farms), Henry Huynh (CK Tropical Produce), George Ambatzidis (Grown Farm Fresh) and David Hanno (Eden Garden Fresh Market) for taking the time to talk with Anne from Star Weekly and sharing their stories.
