Upcoming Public Holidays

The Melbourne Market will be closed on the two upcoming public holidays, this Thursday 22nd September (Memorial Day for Queen Elizabeth II) and Friday 23rd September (AFL Grand Final eve).

If your parking permit only allows access on Thursday or Friday, and you would like to come to the market on an alternative adjacent day, you will not be charged for parking; however, your regular parking bay may not be available, so please speak to a Market Relations Officer on arrival for parking instructions.

With a four-day break in trade, the MMA understand that there may be a need for some fruit and vegetable buyers to pick up stock over this period.

Buyers will be able to enter the market to collect any pre-orders on the public holidays, however, the Buyers’ Walk and trading floors will be closed, so individual arrangements must be made between buyers and sellers for any produce pick-ups.

Register now for Children in the Market

Children in the Market is back next Tuesday, 27 and Wednesday, 28 September. Children can grab a goodie bag on arrival at Gate 1, which will include a colouring competition and market quiz, with prizes available. A face painter will be at the Market from 5am to create unique designs for all the kids.

Please ensure all children are pre-registered before the event and accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Complete the registration form here, print it, and return it to customer service.

As well as ensuring children enjoy their time at the market our biggest priority is safety. We ask all market users to be especially vigilant and be conscious that children will be onsite over these two days.

*Please note: All submitted forms will be automatically approved unless you are notified otherwise.

The Open Day is an exciting opportunity for those working in the hospitality, fresh produce and flower industries to come and experience everything the Melbourne Market offers.

Vale Peter Mazaris

The MMA and Melbourne Market community offer condolences to the Mazaris Family on the recent passing of Peter Mazaris, who died peacefully in his sleep on 10th September.

Peter spent most of his working life in the market, selling the stock he produced on his Werribee South farm. He saw many changes in the market and industry over the years, working in all three wholesale markets, Queen Victoria Market, Footscray and Epping.

Peter built a great foundation and customer base in the market and will be missed by many.

Rest in Peace, Peter.
