Racism has no home at the Melbourne Market

Nobody deserves to come to work in an environment where they are subject to racism. The language you use has a lasting impact. It can be harmful – whether or not you intend it to be.

As a community, we all expect each other to act reasonably and responsibly, treating others with the same respect we would give our family and friends.

Racial name-calling, favouritism or exclusion based on race or ethnicity, or stereotypical comments and jokes are all acts of racism and are unacceptable.

We all want a Melbourne Market we are proud of, an environment where we would be proud for our sons, daughters, partners, and parents to be involved.
When at work, ask yourself, would my family be proud to see me now?

Have you been the victim of racism in the market?
If you would like to seek support, confidentially discuss or report an issue relating to racism, sexism, violence, bullying or harassment in the Melbourne Market, please email strongertogether@melbournemarket.com.au or call 0448 413 098.

Please visit the Stronger Together website for further information and support.

Smoking in the market

Recently, there has been an influx of complaints regarding smoking within the market. This is a reminder that in accordance with Operating Rule 4.3 (a); a Person on Market Land must not smoke unless in an area designated specifically as a smoking area and labelled as such.

Designated smoking locations are marked in yellow on the map below.

Children in the Market

Children in the Market is on today and tomorrow! Please sign in at Gate 1 on arrival, where the kids can grab their goodie bags!

As well as footy-themed activities and cheer, DEBRA Australia will be on-site, selling raffle tickets and raising money as part of the upcoming Melbourne Market Golf Day.Our biggest priority is safety. We ask that children be accompanied by their parent or guardian at all times and for market users to be especially vigilant and conscious that they will be onsite over these two days. Please keep in mind recent vehicle upgrades and ensure you and your guests wear seatbelts when riding in electric buggies.

Unwrapped food and beverage event

The City of Whitlesea and the Department of Jobs, Skills and Regions will host a free food and beverage discussion to explore opportunities and challenges within the industry. Topics will include consumer preferences, sustainable packaging practices and industry machinery.

The event, which will be held at the Melbourne Market, will be a great opportunity to gain insights from industry experts and connect with industry peers.
