Funding available for Victoria’s single-use plastic ban The Victorian Government’s single-use plastic ban regulations will come into effect from 1 February 2023. The ban does not apply to plastic and polystyrene packaging used to transport and store fresh produce. To adjust to the single-use plastics ban for businesses, Sustainability Victoria provides funding between $15,000 to $50,000 to eligible businesses through the Circular Economy Reuse Pilots Fund to help you comply with the upcoming single-use plastics ban. Funding applications are open until October 31 2022. Industry News Flood-affected farmers to get $10,000 grants in Victoria Victorian farmers affected by the recent floods will receive a one-off $10,000 payment to help re-establish their properties and businesses. The assistance was announced by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews as part of an initial $73.5 million package that will deliver grants to help farmers and business owners clean up their properties. The package also includes business mentoring, concessional loans and transport subsidies to help businesses re-establish themselves. Click here to read more. Australian avocados a smash hit in Asia Hort Innovation head of trade Brei Montgomery said the three-month campaign’s digital content successfully branded Australian avocados as a premium commodity to Asia-Pacific consumers. The avocado industry also plans to showcase its produce at the upcoming Asia Fruit Logistica in Bangkok next month, taking the opportunity to develop new business. Click here to read more.
