Meet Afnan Bilal – Vehicle Support Officer

Afnan has recently joined the Customer Service Team, and part of his role includes assisting market users through the vehicle registration and renewal process for Market Approved Vehicles, including forklifts, buggies and other electric vehicles.

Afnan is available to meet with market businesses at their workplace to assist in understanding the registration and renewal process and will work with them to ensure it is completed successfully.

Market businesses are encouraged to contact Afnan for any queries or issues regarding new vehicle registrations, vehicle renewals (due annually), vehicle transfers and disposals in the market.

Support Team Norm – HeartKids Two Feet Challenge

The HeartKids charity holds a special place in the hearts of many market users, and over the past years, the Market community has raised over $50,000 for the charity through the support of several market businesses as well as events and fundraising. Community Engagement and Relationship Manager Norm Hutton is walking the Two Feet & a Heartbeat walk this year in honour of all the children living with congenital or acquired childhood heart disease and the young lives lost too early to this disease.

If you are able to make a small donation, that would be outstanding. A message from Norm: “I realise the Spring carnival is here, but you can back me and HeartKids in for a sure thing.”

Engine On, Headlights On

As per the Operating Rules, headlights must be on while any market-approved vehicle is in operation; this includes buggies.

Although the market is well-lit, coming in and out of the market without headlights on can be very dangerous. Without headlights, you may not be visible to pedestrians and other vehicle operators, which puts you and other market users in a vulnerable position.

Australian summer fruit volumes should increase significantly on last year

Summerfruit Australia are anticipating a good season. Flowering and fruit set has generally been very good and a warm to hot spring and summer is expected which is perfect for high quality summer fruit.

“Volumes are always dependent on the weather conditions. If we don’t have hail storms or other events which negatively impact yield, volumes will increase significantly compared to last season, so a return to volumes of 120,000 tonnes or more,” said Charlotte Brunt, Trade Development Manager at Summerfruit Australia.
