Forklift Training Employment Initiative

Finding staff resources can be challenging, and forklift drivers are in high demand.

SYC is a business that trains and places people looking for work, and they are currently looking to upskill and place a pool of forklift drivers in various settings.

There is an opportunity for Melbourne Market businesses to get involved and employ qualified forklift drivers taking part in this program.

In preparing the participants for work, SYC will deliver general work skills training over three days, followed by a two-day forklift training course run by Foresite Training.

To find out more and to register your interest, you will need to attend a presentation session:

When: Thursday, 23 February
Time: 7:30am to 8:30am
Where: MMA Conference Room
RSVP: Click here or email david.power@melbournemarket.com.au

How hot can you handle?

This Thursday is International Chilli Day, and we want to put your tastebuds to the test!

We’ll have different varieties with varying scoville ratings to see how hot you can handle and filming reactions for the Melbourne Market social media channels.

Keep an eye out for the chillies in the Market on Thursday morning or if you’re up for the test, let us know and we’ll come directly to you!

Storage of goods in EFS bays

To keep our Market clean and operating as it was designed, there are some important rules regarding what you can and cannot store in EFS 1, 2 and 3 Bays:

Permitted

  • Forklifts
  • Electric vehicles
  • Sales Counters (must be stored on Forklift tines)
  • Maximum of two (2) pallets (must be stored on Forklift tines)
Not Permitted

  • Produce
  • Rubbish
  • More than 2 pallets
  • Boxes
  • Growers Bins
  • Other market related machinery/items
EFS bay holders should ensure they only have permitted items in their bays including a maximum of two pallets, please remove additional pallets immediately. If pallets are removed by the MMA, penalties will apply.

Annual Access Card Renewal

Prior to 28 February, all businesses should log onto their My MMA Portal account and select any access cards they would like to deactivate to avoid unnecessary charges. A short video explaining how simple it is to complete this process via the customer portal can be viewed below.

All access cards associated with your business will be automatically renewed in your March Tax Invoice/Statement.

The My MMA Portal has been thoughtfully designed to provide your business with a single digital platform to view your business account details and manage interactions with the MMA at your own convenience.

If your business is yet to set up a My MMA Portal account, contact the MMA via info@melbournemarket.com.au to nominate a business representative and read and sign the terms or use.

Toilet block cleaning

To keep the market and our facilities clean and hygienic, toilet blocks are regularly cleaned throughout trade. When cleaning is being conducted in the toilet blocks, and ‘Cleaning in Progress’ signs are in place, you must not enter.

This is for the safety and privacy of both the cleaners and market users.
If you visit a toilet that is being cleaned please wait until the cleaner has completed their job and removed the ‘cleaning in progress’ signs or use other nearby facilities.
