Offensive material within the market

Displaying offensive material around the market or on equipment is considered an act of bullying and harassment.

Images or words that may be funny to some may be offensive to others. Before putting anything up, think twice about how it could impact other market users as we work together to create a Melbourne Market where everyone feels included and welcomed.

Offensive material includes but is not limited to:
– pornographic imagery
– stickers or graffiti that feature vulgar language
– hateful or racist propaganda

If you see offensive material displayed in the Melbourne Market, ask for it to be removed, report it to an MRO or contact strongertogether@melbournemarket.com.au or 0448 413 098.

Visit the Stronger Together website for further information and support.

Vehicle Registration Fee Reduction

To assist Market users in ensuring all vehicles meet safety standards, the MMA is reducing the annual Market Vehicle Registration Renewal Fee. From Wednesday, 1 November, the renewal fee will be reduced to $20.

Importance of Headlights

As per the Operating Rules, headlights must be on while a forklift is in operation. Headlights are essential for maintaining a safe operating environment within the market. Without headlights, your forklift may not be visible to pedestrians and other vehicle operators, which puts you and other market users in a vulnerable position.

When operating a forklift, please remember the Forklift Safety Checklist:

  1. Buckle Up: Restraints must be worn at all times
  2. Ensure Headlights are on: Lights need to be turned on when forklift is in operation
  3. Eliminate Distractions: You need to be aware of your surroundings at all times, so no mobile phone operations (including calls or texts) and no headphones
  4. Take Care When Reversing: Be aware of your blind spot and look out for pedestrians and other vehicles
