Harmony Week

Harmony Day is a day to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, it’s about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

To celebrate the different cultural backgrounds in the Melbourne Market we would love for you to submit a recipe that represents your country of ancestry and of course fruit or veg, even better if it has been passed down through family generations! There is nothing quite like nanna’s/nonna’s/oma’s/yiayia’s/lao lao’s/bà’s home-cooked meal!

Your recipes will come alive in an online flipbook for the Market community to enjoy, and three lucky recipes will be selected to feature in the A better choice! magazine which has a national reach and is great exposure for your business.

Please submit your recipes here no later than Friday, 24 March.

Shop and win is back!

The annual Shop and Win! consumer campaign is back this Autumn, with $19,000 worth of prizes up for grabs in participating fruit and veg shops, including Apple Airpods, Fitbit Versa 4, Nintendo Switch Console Lite, Breville Coffee Machines and more.

Along with this campaign, the illustrious “Retailer of the Year, Peoples Choice Award” will be awarded to the store with the most customer nominations.

Run for the Kids 2023

The Victorian A better choice! team is excited to announce a new sponsorship of the 2023 Herald Sun/Transurban Run for the Kids event.

Held on Sunday, 19 March, the event will see over 20,000 participants run through the city of Melbourne, raising much needed funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

This event will provide a platform for A better choice! to promote the importance of consuming fresh fruit and vegetables from local fruit and veg shops to an enormous Victorian audience.

A better choice! signage

Over the coming weeks, we will make available removable magnetic A better choice! signs for Market businesses who want to proudly display their support for the program.

These signs are a great chance for sellers to show their support of the national program that is driving consumers back into fruit and veg shops, benefiting all businesses in the supply chain.

Zac will be walking the market floor to discuss the signage with wholesale store principals in the coming weeks, if you’re keen to install a sign make sure you chat with Zac when you see him.

Ensure your hi-vis vest meets the AS/NZS 4602.1:2011 standard by having reflective strips.
