Shop Local to Veg in this Winter

The new “Shop Local to Veg in this Winter!” campaign is now live across Australia, promoting all the delicious winter vegetables found at your local greengrocer.

In Victoria, you’ll see and hear the campaign for yourself on metropolitan and regional radio stations, on social media and in-store as point-of-sale material at A Better Choice greengrocers.

Free point-of-sale merchandise is now available for A Better Choice retailers to collect from Art and Style, but hurry, stocks are limited.

Check out the social media advertisment below:

Public liability insurance renewal

In last week’s Market News, we communicated that free coffee and donuts would be offered to businesses when they provided their public liability insurance renewal, at a pop up stand outside customer service.
While we still need to have your Public Liability of Insurance Certificate of Currency, in light of stage 3 restrictions, the MMA property team will not be offering the coffee and donut incentive.
Please hand in a copy of your certificate of currency to the Customer Service Centre.

Remember, your Public Liability of Insurance Certificate of Currency must reflect the following items:
– Insured name must be the name of the Tenant
– Minimum public liability coverage of $20 million for any single event
– The Melbourne Market, Cooper Street, Epping VIC 3076 noted as a situation of risk
– The Melbourne Market Authority and the State of Victoria noted as interested parties

If you have any questions about public liability insurance, please email property@melbournemarket.com.au

Concrete repair works

Essential concrete repair works are being undertaken on the forklift highway that runs directly behind the customer service centre on the Trading Floor (pictured).
The cross over will be barricaded and closed at each end between Friday 10 July and Sunday 26 July.
Forklift operators and electric buggy drivers who use this crossover will need to find an alternate route during this time. It also means that electric vehicles will not be able to drive between the Trading Floor and Buyers’ Walk via the roadway by the historical mural.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused as we carry out this essential repair and maintenance work.

Industry News

Mental Health in the Industry

Mental health conditions are prevalent in many regional and rural communities, including in the agriculture industry, yet many people are still hesitant to openly discuss it. This has never been truer as we all try to navigate our way through this Pandemic.

The nature of the agriculture industry can result in factors that lead to increased risk of experiencing mental health issues, including isolation, environmental factors such as natural disasters and ongoing drought and the stresses associated with tough economic conditions.

These stressors, combined with the stigma associated with discussing mental health conditions, can have negative effects on an individual’s mental health. Now with a second spike of COVID-19, Metropolitan Melbourne is once again in lockdown, and now more than ever, it’s important that we look after ourselves and those close to us.

There are a number of resources available on the AusVeg website. For those who feel they may need help, please see the below information:
