Upcoming Public Holidays
The Melbourne Market will be closed on the two upcoming public holidays, Thursday 22nd September (Memorial Day for Queen Elizabeth II) and Friday 23rd September (AFL Grand Final eve).
If your parking permit only allows access on Thursday or Friday, and you would like to come to the market on an alternative adjacent day, you will not be charged for parking; however, your regular parking bay may not be available, so please speak to a Market Relations Officer on arrival for parking instructions.
With a four-day break in trade, the MMA understand that there may be a need for some fruit and vegetable buyers to pick up stock over this period.
Buyers will be able to enter the market to collect any pre-orders on the public holidays. The Buyers’ Walk and trading floors will be closed, so individual arrangements must be made between buyers and sellers for any produce pick-ups.
Fine Food Expo Success
Last week the Melbourne Market participated in the Fine Food Australia event at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
As one of the biggest food trade events in the Southern Hemisphere and with tens of thousands in attendance over four massive days, it was an excellent opportunity to showcase all the Melbourne Market has to offer to caterers, restaurants, manufacturers, education, health, packaging and many interstate and international visitors.
Tastings of fresh produce ran daily and were a major drawcard for the stand. Thank you to Laura from Rosanna Fine Produce, who expertly sliced, diced and educated everyone on the best fresh produce in Victoria.
We received many enquiries about accessing the market, either directly or buying through provedores, with many signing up to attend the next Industry Open Day on Thursday, 6 October.
A special thank you to the following businesses in the Melbourne Market who supported the event and supplied produce:
Barkers Fresh Produce
LaManna Premier Group
Produce of Virginia
Latorre’s Fresh Produce
All Aussie Farmers
Melbourne Market Industry Open Day
The MMA will host the next Melbourne Market Industry Open Day on Thursday, 6 October, from 5am – 8am.
The Open Day is an exciting opportunity for those working in the hospitality, fresh produce and flower industries to come and experience everything the Melbourne Market offers.
If you think people within your networks would be interested in visiting the market during our Open Day please forward this link and have them complete the registration form.
