The three groups are kicking off the fundraiser with a combined $30,000 – but we need your help too! A Melbourne Market GIVIT donation page is live where you can contribute funds towards the flood-affected growers who are fundamental to our fresh produce supply chain. Click here to donate via GIVIT now 100% of the funds raised through GIVIT will be used to purchase items and services flood-affect growers need to get back on their feet and recover from the devastating impact of the floods. For those that don’t get a chance to donate online, Santa will be visiting the Market and on Thursday 22 December, to spread some festive cheer and collect donations from the market community.  Melbourne Market Satisfaction Survey  The Melbourne Market Satisfaction Survey is now open. It’s your chance to let us know what’s working, what can be improved, and how we can assist your business. This anonymous survey takes just 7-10 minutes to complete. We use the data collected to help inform our decision-making and improve the operations, facilities and opportunities at the Melbourne Market. Be quick, and breakfast will be on us. Buyers’ Walk Floor Deep Clean From Monday, 12 December to Tuesday, 20 December between 11am and 4pm, heavy-duty machinery will be operating on the Buyer’s Walk to undertake a deep clean of the area. The schedule of the works will run as follows: Tenancy 29-51 – Tuesday, 13 December Tenancy 53-69 – Wednesday, 14 December Tenancy 71-85 – Thursday, 15 December Tenancy 87-103 – Friday, 16 December Tenancy 107-127 – Monday, 19 December Tenancy 129-155 – Tuesday, 20 December When the area in front of your tenancy is due to be cleaned, please ensure you remove all items including any equipment and/or product from the area. Crack-sealing Asphalt works – Produce Drive & Haymarket Road Crack-sealing asphalt works will commence at 9am on Thursday, 15 December, at the Gate 1 entry/exit roundabout and will be completed by 4pm the same day. Traffic and pedestrian management will be in place, diverting traffic using signs and bollards. One lane at a time will be closed for works to be performed, minimising the impact of entering and exiting the market at Gate 1. Works are weather permitting and may be cancelled if conditions are not suitable.  LPG Safety Instruction Refresher This morning from 6am, Origin Energy representatives will be onsite to providing step-by-step guides and best practices for forklift cylinder refilling. Be sure to make the team feel welcome when you see them at the North LPG station. Christmas Trading Hours The Melbourne Market, including the Flower Market, will be closed on public holidays during the Christmas – New Year period.  To accommodate buying demand, buyers will have access to the Melbourne Market on Monday, 26 and Tuesday, 27 December, to collect pre-arranged produce orders only. It is important to remember the Buyers’ Walk, Trading Floor, and Flower Market will be closed, as these are not mandatory trading days. Some wholesalers and warehouse tenants may allow access to their premises for buyers who have made individual arrangements to collect produce.   “The final day for Market donations to food charity FareShare in 2022 will be Tuesday, 20 December. We will resume collections on Tuesday, 3 January 2023. We’d like to extend a warm thanks to the Market community who generously supported us in 2022.” Industry News Trade agreements boosts export opportunities for Australian oranges to India.  Peak industry body, Citrus Australia, noted that India is a key focus for the country’s growers, with exports of Australian citrus as high as 7800 tonnes to the country in the past. This agreement will allow Australian citrus exporters to export oranges and mandarins to India under a tariff-reduced quota system. Click here to read more.
