THE MELBOURNE MARKETS WELCOME IKON SERVICES

The Melbourne Market Authority and Plenary Asset Management are pleased to welcome IKON Services Australia Pty Ltd (IKON) as the Markets’ new waste management provider.

IKON will replace current waste management services at West Melbourne from Monday 31 March 2014 and will work with the MMA and the Markets Community to implement a new end-to-end waste management solution for here and at Epping.

IKON’s services scope at West Melbourne includes the collection of waste from designated collection and transfer points, waste compaction and stream sorting as well as mechanical sweeping and washing.

IKON is an Australian-owned and operated cleaning and waste management company. IKON has built a strong reputation in the delivery of cleaning and waste management solutions to the public and private sectors. Some of IKON’s high-profile contracts include the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Crown Casino Melbourne, Federation Square and the Prahran and Preston Markets.

How will the new waste services provider affect me and what changes will I see?

In the short term it will be business as usual for the Market Community. You will however notice a few new faces around the place wearing IKON uniforms.

Over the coming months you will start to see some exciting changes around how waste is managed at West Melbourne. We will provide you with more information about what this means for you in due course.

Impact cleans of various hard stand areas will also be undertaken throughout April.

Who do I contact with an urgent waste management request during trading hours?

Please report any urgent waste management requirements to a Market Officer who will escalate the issue to IKON.
