Business grants can provide valuable resources for organisations.
They can help businesses to become more productive, employ more people, improve market access and increase their scale, diversity and profitability.
There are an array of business grants available at any one time. The MMA has compiled a list of grants currently available that may be of interest to Melbourne Market businesses.

Circuit Breaker Business Support Package
The Victorian Government has announced some Circuit Breaker Business Support Package for businesses affected by the circuit breaker.
The Business Costs Assistance Program will offer grants of up to $7000 for eligible businesses directly affected by the circuit-breaker industry restrictions, including restaurants and cafes, event suppliers, accommodation providers and non-essential retailers.
The package includes:
- a $190.01 million second round of the Business Costs Assistance Program
- a $40.7 million new round of the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund
- $20 million in targeted support for the events industry.

Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme
The Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme is a key Australian Government financial assistance program for aspiring and current exporters. Administered by Austrade, the scheme supports a wide range of industries.
The EMDG scheme:
- encourages small- and medium-sized Australian businesses to develop export markets
- reimburses up to 50 per cent of eligible export promotion expenses above $5,000 provided that the total expenses are at least $15,000
- provides up to eight grants to each eligible applicant.

Research and Development Tax Incentive
The Research and Development (R&D) tax incentive encourages companies to engage in R&D benefiting Australia, by providing a tax offset for eligible R&D activities. It has two core components:
- a refundable tax offset for certain eligible entities whose aggregated turnover is less than $20 million
- a non-refundable tax offset for all other eligible entities.

Advanced Manufacturing Early Stage Research Fund
Supported by the Commonwealth Government, the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) is calling for Australian manufacturers to submit their project ideas, with the new $4 million Advanced Manufacturing Early Stage Research Fund (AMESRF) to help take their concepts to the next level.

Regional Jobs Fund
The Regional Jobs Fund (RJF) aims to help the creation of new jobs in regional Victoria and also support the retention of existing jobs.

Trade Mission Program
The Trade Mission Program provides businesses in Victoria with support and opportunities to attend overseas trade missions to maximise their export potential and access to international markets.

Flower Business Bench marking
Flowers Australia have negotiated a discount benchmarking deal for florist’s and farmers to benchmark their businesses against other retail florists and farms. Normally priced at $1,100 industry members can now participate for $750 (plus GST).
