Vehicle Safety Notice

Vehicles present one of the biggest safety risks on the Melbourne Market site, especially when operating rules are not followed.

The video below is a re-enactment of a real-life forklift incident that injured a market user at the Melbourne Market.

The short animation breaks down and shows all the contributing factors that led to the collision. It reminds us of what we need to do to help ensure we all get home safely to our loved ones.

When operating a buggy or forklift, please remember the following;

  • Obey speed limits
  • Wear a seatbelt
  • Stay securely inside the vehicle while in motion
  • Always have your headlights on
  • Drive on the correct side of the road
  • Do not cut through parking bays
  • Do not use mobile phone

Flower Market Deep Clean

On Friday, 3 May, between 8am and 4pm, heavy-duty machinery will be operating in the National Flower Centre to undertake a deep clean of the area.

Please ensure you remove all items, including any equipment and/or products, from the area.

Meet Caleb Losh, BGIS Project Manager

Caleb’s passion for project management begun while working on one of the NSW government’s largest projects, relocating 13 buildings and 10,000 staff from the CBD to Paramatta. This along with his experience as a facilities manager for the Department of Planning and Environment in NSW have helped him become well equipped to take on his role as Project Manager at the Melbourne Market.

Over the past three years with BGIS, Caleb has been an integral part of the team, helping to deliver major security and traffic management projects across a variety of sectors. All which have given him the experience to work on the wide variety of projects at the Melbourne Market.

A Sydney local, Caleb has never followed AFL very closely however his move to Melbourne has come with the obligatory picking a team. His choice, Carlton!

Melbourne Market in The Age Good Food

Earlier this month, the Melbourne Market was featured in The Age Good Food. The article showcased the market’s people and highlighted the important role the market plays by creating opportunities and competition within the fresh produce industry. It captured the community, the small businesses that power the market, and the opportunities the market provides for smaller growers and wholesalers who do not supply the big supermarkets.

With a focus on increasing the Melbourne Market’s brand visibility, the MMA has been working closely with media outlets to create relationships with relevant journalists, inviting them to experience the market firsthand to better understand its operations and place in the fresh produce supply chain.
