Flower Market update – Wednesday 5 August 2020 Over the past 48 hours, the MMA has been strongly advocating for the flower industry and speaking with relevant government departments to enable the Melbourne Flower Market to remain open during stage 4 restrictions. As it currently stands, the wholesale trade of flowers is not permitted under stage 4 restrictions and as such, at midnight tonight; regrettably, the Melbourne Flower Market will suspend operations. The Melbourne Flower Market will not be open for trade tomorrow, on Thursday 6 August. The MMA has been working with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health to have them include the Melbourne Flower Market as a facility that can operate through stage 4 restrictions. This decision is currently sitting at a ministerial level with discussions ongoing. We will let you know the final decision as soon as the MMA are made aware. |
