Covid Update – Vaccination Hub
One of the most effective ways to protect yourself and your loved ones from severe illness from COVID-19 is by getting vaccinated.
The MMA is pleased to be able to offer onsite COVID-19 vaccination for two separate days in August for all market users.

Vaccination hub details
When: Two days only. Thursday 4 August and Thursday 18 August, 7 am – 11 am.

Vaccines available: Pfizer and Novavax vaccinations will be available for anyone requiring a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd vaccine dose; 4th vaccinations are available for anyone over 30.
Getting your vaccination: No booking is required; vaccinations will be administered via a walk-in service. You will need to bring your medicare card and a form of photo ID with you.

Covid Update
The Victorian Government has provided more advice on how people can protect themselves, their families and businesses this winter from COVID-19. Mask-wearing in indoor and crowded settings is now strongly recommended across Victoria, and the MMA strongly recommends mask-wearing in all indoor areas of the Melbourne Market.  The Minister for Health is requesting that employers consider working from home arrangements most appropriate for their workplace and employees based on individual requirements. The period when someone is considered a recently confirmed case (and therefore exempt from testing and isolation/quarantine requirements) has been revised to four weeks, down from 12 weeks.

Protecting the fresh produce supply chain
With the fresh produce industry already facing significant challenges, we encourage all market users to follow COVIDSafe practices. If not to protect your own health and your family’s health, then to reduce infection rates, allowing more people to continue to work to keep businesses open and operational.

Creating a more inclusive Melbourne Market
The Melbourne Market is a unique environment made up of people from diverse backgrounds. It’s a great place where people work hard, look out for one another, are generous, and enjoy having a laugh together – and for many of us, it’s where we spend a considerable amount of our waking hours.

For this reason, we want a Melbourne Market where everyone feels included, where people feel safe and are treated with respect. The Melbourne Market should be a place free of racism, sexism, discrimination, harassment, violence and bullying – and currently, feedback from many of you suggests we need to do better as a market community.

The Melbourne Market Authority is launching a new market-wide initiative to look at our culture to create a more inclusive and respectful Melbourne Market for everyone, where people are proud to work and trade.

We invite you to participate in this future vision of the Melbourne Market. We’re looking for a range of people, from business principals to employees, sellers and buyers alike, to volunteer to join a working group that will lead this cultural change with the MMA. Our working group members will come together for an hour once every 8-10 weeks to share advice and perspectives and test ideas to develop the strategy. Ultimately, we want your input in setting the goals and objectives that will create a more inclusive Melbourne Market.

A floral designer can make choices about the flowers they use, using eco-friendly materials to design their floral displays, who they buy from, reducing waste, avoiding toxic chemicals and pesticides, conditioning flowers to extend their life, to re-purpose and re-use.
