Register now for Children in the Market

We are very excited that after two long years, we are finally welcoming children back into the market these school holidays! Children in the Market is a favourite event for many market users and we can’t wait to welcome families back into the market for a fun morning!

The Children in the Market event will be held on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 April. Children must be pre-registered before the event and accompanied by their parent or guardian at all times. To register please complete the registration form here and print and return to customer service.

As well as ensuring children enjoy their time at the market our biggest priority is safety. We ask all market users to be especially vigilant and be conscious that children will be onsite over these two days.

Melbourne Market Open Day – Volunteers needed
The MMA will be hosting a Melbourne Market Open Day on Thursday 5, May 5am – 8am. The Open Day is a chance for those working in the hospitality and floristry industry to come and experience the Melbourne Market and learn how they can access the widest range of fresh produce and cut flowers in Victoria.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help us showcase the market to its fullest potential.

1 – 2 Flower Wholesalers who would like the opportunity to speak to the groups for 10 minutes about their business, as well as make a donation to participants
3 – 4 Fruit and Vegetable wholesalers who stock an exotic line, that you would be happy to speak about and donate roughly 30 pieces of produce for taste testing (depending on the group size)
1 – 2 Provedores who would like the opportunity to speak to the groups for about 10 minutes about their business, delivery catchment, order process etc

If you fall into one of the above categories and would like to get involved, please contact Zac Egan

Plastic sleeve recycling program update
Unfortunately, Helix Australia is currently experiencing issues collecting the plastic sleeves from the collection bins at the Melbourne Market for recycling. Therefore, we have had to pause the initiative until they can resolve this issue.

You will notice the plastic collection bins have been removed from the market; please refrain from bringing in plastic sleeves for collection at this time. This will only be temporary as we work with Helix Australia to get the initiative back up and running.

We will communicate any updates to the situation as soon as they develop. Thank you for your patience and overwhelming participation in the initiative thus far.

Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show
The biggest annual celebration of all things horticulture returned to the Carlton Gardens and Royal Exhibition building last week with great success. Over one hundred thousand people attended the five-day festival, marveling at the incredible displays, floral designs, hands-on workshops and a giant floral covered carousel.
