Mother’s Day Campaign
Make it a Mum Moment this Mother’s day.
We all know that some of our favourite moments and fondest memories are with our mums, so this year the Melbourne Market’s Mother’s Day advertising campaign will highlight these special Mum Moments. We’ll be encouraging the public to share their #MumMoment on social media for their chance to WIN one of five stunning bouquets.
How can you get involved?
Collect and display posters in your store – a limited number of A2 printed posters will be available from the Flower Market (National Flower Centre) or Customer Service from Thursday, 28 April
Use the hashtag #MumMoment on all your Mother’s Day posts
Share the social media video on your socials – make the “#MumMoment” video go viral by sharing from the Melbourne Market, National Flower Centre Facebook or Instagram pages
Use “Mum Moment” imagery on your socials
Make up your own posts with “#MumMoment” theme, these could be pics with your mum, a hug, cooking with mum, anything!
Remember to tag @melbourne.market and @NationalFlowerCentre for all your posts.
The campaign will go live on Friday, 29 April and includes:
Radio advertising on Nova 100, Smooth FM
Lots of social media content, including videos and images across Facebook and Instagram
Point-of sale posters for you to display in-store
Children in the Market Success
Thank you to everyone for your vigilance and prioritising safety while we welcomed 38 children into the market over the two days. The children enjoyed seeing familiar faces and some new ones whilst taking in the magnitude of the market. The market community is known for their generosity and this event was no different, with many market users making the kids feel especially welcomed with special treats. From buggy rides to exotic fruit lessons with the Fruit Nerd, the children were thoroughly entertained and had a blast!
We are already looking forward to the next Children in the Market event during the June school holidays!
Spoiling Australia’s mums to cost $750m
Australians are set to fork out more than $750 million on Mother’s Day offerings, with flowers, alcohol, food and clothing topping the 2022 gift list.
A national poll conducted by the Australian Retailers Association found that 34 per cent of the respondents are likely to purchase flowers as the most popular present. Click here to read more.
Melbourne Market Open Day
The MMA will be hosting a Melbourne Market Open Day on Thursday, 5 May 5am – 8am. The Open Day is an exciting opportunity for those working in the hospitality, fresh produce and flower industries to come and experience everything the Melbourne Market has to offer.
From 5am onwards, you can expect to see members of the general public on a market tour, learning how they can access the widest range of fresh produce and cut flowers in Victoria.
If someone within your network would like to see the market, we have allocated spaces for those within the market community, simply forward this link and have them complete the registration form.
Plastic sleeve recycling program update
Unfortunately, Helix Australia is currently experiencing issues collecting the plastic sleeves from the collection bins at the Melbourne Market for recycling. Therefore, we have had to pause the initiative until they can resolve this issue. Please refrain from bringing in plastic sleeves for collection at this time and depositing any other material in the collection bins, as infringements will apply.
We will communicate any updates to the situation as soon as they develop. Thank you for your patience and overwhelming participation in the initiative thus far.
