CFA Issue Watch and Act Alert for Epping – Melbourne Market Temporarily Closed

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) for Epping has issued a Watch and Act alert related to a grass fire in Vearings Road Epping.

While there is no immediate threat to the Market, their are several road closures in the area as well as heavy smoke causing low visibility.

The CFA have evacuated areas of Epping including the Market as a precaution and have advised all people to avoid this area.

The MMA advise all Market users to make alternative arrangements for any works or deliveries to the Epping site until further notice.

Current road closures include:

• The Hume Freeway (also known as the Craigiburn Bypass) is closed in both directions from the Metropolitan Ring Road to Somerton Road
• Cooper Street is closed between Transport Drive and Edgars Road.
