It’s National Reconciliation Week
What is reconciliation?
At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples for the benefit of all Australians.
The 2024 National Reconciliation Week theme, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder that this work should continue.
Why these dates?
The day before Reconciliation Week, 26 May, is National Sorry Day, which was first held in Sydney in 1998 and is now commemorated nationally to remember and honour the Stolen Generations.
How can I get involved?
National Reconciliation Week is a great time to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and recognise the importance of building respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples.
