Market News

Hort Connections is coming to Jeff’s Shed

Melbourne is hosting this years’ Hort Connections event from Monday 3 to Wednesday 5 June at the Melbourne Convention Centre (Jeff’s Shed).

As well as attending the event with other central market operators and chambers across the country, the Melbourne Market will be hosting delegates on a market tour on Monday 3 June. We look forward to connecting with the industry to promote the Melbourne Market, and hopefully seeing some familiar faces there.

Please help with pest control

Unfortunately, our pest control and baiting measures are less effective when pests are tempted by fresh produce and flowers being left out on the Buyers’ Walk, Trading Floor and NFC.

Please help us to provide a safer, cleaner and more hygienic market for all by putting all stock away outside of trading hours.

If you have any questions, please chat to Syed, Izzy, Amy or a member of the MRO team.

Forklift and Electric Vehicle Registrations

The MMA’s top priority is the safety of everyone onsite. To support this, all forklifts and electric vehicles driven in the market must complete an annual Road Worthy Certificate examination (RWC) with an approved Service Provider, and be registered with both VicRoads and the MMA.

If you haven’t in the last 12 months, book your RWC with one of the below providers:

  • Toyota Material Handling: 0403 183 898
  • East End Hire: 9687 2022
  • United Equipment: 1300 852 740
  • Damoli Forklift Services: 0475 347 742
  • Carts and Parts: 0423 724 548 / 0447 741 674
  • K&C Mechanical Services: 0448 197 555

Once the RWC has been completed and VicRoads registration has been paid, head to Customer Service or log into the My MMA Portal to pay the MMA registration fee. The MMA has reduced the registration fee to just $20 (incl. GST) to ensure cost is not a barrier to keeping vehicles safe.

If you have any questions, please contact Carly on 0429 700 276 (Mon – Fri 5.30am to 1.30pm).

Market Closure: King’s Birthday Public Holiday Monday 10 June

Please note that the Market will be closed on Monday 10 June for the King’s Birthday Public Holiday.
