A WorkSafe Victoria requirement:
Eliminating the risk of ejection from Market Vehicles

Vehicles are essential to work at the Melbourne Market but can also be a significant safety risk.

WorkSafe Victoria has contacted the MMA about electric vehicle safety and, more specifically, preventing people from being ejected from market-approved vehicles.

WorkSafe recommends the most effective way for businesses to eliminate the risk of ejection from market-approved vehicles is by fitting seatbelts for all occupants in all-electric vehicles, including forklifts, golf buggies, and Taylor Dunns, many of which do not currently have seatbelts.

Reasonable timeframes will be put in place for the installation of seat belts before infringements are issued, as WorkSafe expects seatbelts to be fitted and worn when operating all vehicles in the market.
Covid Update – Vaccination Hub Final Day
It was great to see many people take up the opportunity to get vaccinated last week. DPV Health will be back onsite to offer COVID-19 vaccinations for one more day and is available for all market users.
