In this week’s Market News: – Second Pfizer doses, 1 week to go – LPG fob replacement – Undercover canopy parking re-allocations Market News Melbourne Market second dose vaccination hub The Melbourne Market Vaccination hub is just around the corner. Austin Health will be onsite next week, with the Vaccination Hub to operate each morning from 5am – 12pm from Monday 11 October to Friday 15 October. Please read our FAQs below and if you have further questions, please send them through to submissions@melbournemarket.com.au. FAQs If vaccination becomes mandatory for entry to the market what will be the lead time given for those that aren’t vaccinated to get vaccinated and will they have to be double vaccinated? As communicated last week, the Victorian Government have announced that all authorised workers require their first COVID-19 vaccine dose by Friday, 15 October to continue working. In addition, they will need to be fully vaccinated by 26 November. The Melbourne Market is essential in the fresh produce and flower supply chain, and as such, the people who work at and buy from the market are considered authorised workers. This public health order therefore applies to all Melbourne Market access cardholders, including contractors and visitors. The MMA are still working through the finer details on how we will collect the vaccination status of market users based on Chief Health Officer directions. We will provide further details in the coming days. I have received my first Pfizer dose; however, it wasn’t at the market vaccination hub. Am I able to get my second dose when the hub returns? If you are a market access card holder, you are eligible to receive your second dose at the upcoming vaccination hub, regardless of where you received your first dose. Can market access card holders receive their first dose at the hub? With limited doses available per day and nursing resources limited, priority will be given to those receiving their second dose. There may be an opportunity to receive your first dose at the hub if demand quietens, however, this is not guaranteed. We would highly recommend those looking to secure their first vaccination do so at one of the state-run vaccination hubs. You can make a booking here. Does it matter when you had your first Pfizer dose? The second dose of Pfizer is effective when administered at least 21 days after the first dose. Can the Vaccination Hub open earlier? Unfortunately, Austin Health only have scope to operate the hub between 5 am – 12 pm for five days. Can I bring in non-market staff (e.g. retail staff) for their second vaccination? As the hub will be operating for a shorter period and with doses in high demand, the vaccination hub will most likely only be open to access card holders. Any person who received their first vaccination at the Melbourne Market can book in for their second Pfizer dose at any state-run clinic. LPG fob replacement The MMA is upgrading the LPG North Station point of sale system. Upgrade works will happen on 14 October and 18 October. As part of the upgrade, the old fobs will need to be replaced. Amanda Flannery will be on hand to distribute the new fobs on the below dates; 12 October 5am – 8am 13 October 5am – 8am 19 October 5am – 8am Please collect new fobs from Amanda who will be located at EFS1, highlighted below. Fobs will not be distributed to anyone other than Business Owner/Director or Nominee. Proof of identity (either access card or drivers licence) must be provided and signing of a Collection Acknowledgement form will be required. Information on the timeline of installation will be provided at collection. If you have any questions please send them through to submissions@melbournemarket.com.au. Undercover canopy parking re-allocations The last of the undercover parking canopy structures are almost complete, and because of this, we will now be looking to finalise permanent parking in the new covered bays. The undercover parking canopies have the added benefit of generating clean energy, however, their primary purpose is to provide market buyers with protection from the elements to ensure the produce they are buying remains great quality. Because of this, parking bays under the canopies will be prioritised for fruit and veg buyers. The MMA will commence reallocating the parking bays under the canopies to buyers between streets 2 & 3 and 6 & 7 first. If you are currently positioned under the new canopies and are not a buyer, you will be asked to relocate to new bays on the other side of forklift highway. The MMA has begun reaching out to individual businesses to discuss the new parking arrangements, including fees, and have provided the required ‘Parking Re-allocation’ paperwork to be signed by the business owner/director or nominee and returned to Customer Service.
