Taiwanese Flower Display

To celebrate the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show the Melbourne Flower Market will get a display of its very own with a traditional Taiwanese flower display on Tuesday 26 and Thursday 28 March.
The display will be impressive, with Phalaenopsis’, Anthuriums’ and other Taiwanese flowers put together in a large wall display, providing inspiration and ideas on how to sell and display these stunning arrangements. There will also be cut stems, pots and other foliage on sale.
– Tuesday 26 & Thursday 28 March
– The Orchid Man
– Stands 683 – 685

Golf Day wrap up

Another Melbourne Market Charity Golf Day has been a huge success with perfect weather and a great day had by all.
The team from Toyota Material Handling took home the trophy for overall golf winners, however there were more winners than just those playing golf.
With 26 raffle prizes drawn during the night’s entertainment event, there were plenty of people walking away winners.
The Flower Market’s own Mr Fresh, Paul Pavlou, took home 1st prize in the raffle and will drive home from the Market this week in a brand-new Fiat 500.
Once calculated, the golf day committee will be able to announce the final figure raised for DEBRA Australia.
Thank you to all Market users who supported the cause through buying raffle tickets or attending on the day.

New advisory committees hold first meeting

Our four new advisory committees attended a joint meeting last fortnight with the MMA where the groups were talked through the corporate plan and future projects for the Market.
Advisory committees work with the MMA to advise on matters relating to Market operations and the fresh produce and flower industry and they are a great source of information and advice for Market users.
The new advisory committees hold office for a period of three years commencing 1 March 2019, the new members of the Flower Advisory Committee are:
– Greg Duffy (Chair), Mayblooms
– Cheryl Roehrich, Dakota Flower Company
– Lesley Imbesi, Geelong Flower Farm (Geelong Fresh)/ The Orchid Man (Allan Neo)
– Vince (Vincenzo) Cidoni, Grown Florist (LE Enterprise VIC Pty Ltd)

Improving safety in the breezeway

Last year the MMA began working on a project to improve safety in the area between the Flower Market and the Fruit and Vegetable trading floor by re-aligning handrails and updating the line marking. The purpose of the project is to improve traffic management and stop forklifts rounding the blind corners at speed.
The first part of the project was to install temporary barricades between the existing handrails and the canopy pillar, which was done last year.
On Tuesday 26 March works to permanently move the railing and re-do the line marking will commence. It is expected the works will take five days to complete.
If you have any questions, please speak to a Market Relations Officer.
