Melbourne Market in conjunction with Flowers Victoria have created a romantic and whimsical marketing campaign to drive the purchase of flowers this Valentine’s day.
The campaign message: “Feel the Love – Celebrate love with fresh flowers this Valentine’s Day” can be seen and heard on:

Bird cannon in the Flower Market

To deter birds from nesting the Flower Market, a bird deterrent cannon is being trialled from Monday 19 February.

The cannon will be located on the east wall of the Flower Market and will fire a very loud blast every 40 seconds every Monday to Friday between 11:30am and 2:00pm.

While there is no impact on Market operations during the use of the cannon, we would advise that Market users avoid the area while the cannon is in use.

For Flower stand holders expecting delivery of goods during these times, we suggest you contact your delivery partners with the following statement:

Please note, as of Monday 19 February, a bird deterrent cannon will be in operation in the Flower Market every Monday to Friday from 11:30am to 2:00pm. The cannon will fire very loud blasts every 40 seconds. We would advise deliveries are made outside these times however if you need to enter the Market during these times please alert your drivers.

Lunar New Year Celebrations

The Market will be celebrating the year of the dog for Lunar New Year on Tuesday 20 February with a traditional lion dance.

Starting at 5.00am, the performers will begin in the Fruit and Vegetable Market before making their way to the Flower Market at approximately 6:15am.

We would like to also remind all Market users that only a licenced pyrotechnician who has received relevant approvals may discharge firecrackers. Market users are not permitted to discharge firecrackers on Market grounds at any time.
