AFL Grand Final public holiday

Footy finals start this week and that means the Grand Final eve public holiday is around the corner.

Please note the Market will be closed on Friday 29 September 2017.

Normal trading hours apply on Thursday 28 September and Saturday 30 September 2017.

Warehouse access remains unchanged on public holidays. Access for warehouse tenants is 24 hours 7 days a week.

If your parking permit only allows access on a day where a public holiday falls and you would like to come to the Market on an alternative adjacent day, you will not be charged for parking and can enter the Market. However, please note your regular bay may not be available. Please seek instruction from a Market Relations Officer on arrival.

Children in the Market registrations open

Children under 15 years of age are not permitted in the Market in the interests of their safety. However, the MMA recognises for some families, providing children exposure to the Market is part of the education process to ensure they’re equipped to one day manage the family business.

Registrations are open for children to visit the Market during the Term Three school holidays on Tuesday 3 October 2017 and Wednesday 4 October 2017.

Download the registration form here and return it to the MMA as soon as possible to secure your child’s visit.

The details: 

• All children entering the Market must be pre-registered and approved by the MMA.
• Children under 15 years old are not permitted in the Market except for the nominated days as advised by the MMA.
• Numbers are limited to the first 100 registered children.
• Registrations will close on Monday 2 October.
• Employees must have signed approval from their business nominee prior to submitting their form to the MMA.

Please note, any unregistered children found on site will need to be immediately removed by the responsible adult. A breach of the conditions or Market Operating Rules will incur penalties for the Access Card holder and their employer.

North Asia free trade agreement training sessions

A range of training sessions are being coordinated in Victoria to cover various topics linked to the free trade agreements (FTAs) Australia has signed with North Asian nations, including China (ChAFTA), Japan (JAEPA) and Korea (KAFTA).

These training sessions will be held around Victoria, including in Warrnambool, Melbourne, Bendigo, Geelong, Ballarat, Mildura and Dandenong.

They will primarily focus on cultural awareness and understanding cultural differences, which may affect relationships between Australian exporters and buyers from these North Asian nations.
