Australia Day public holiday

The Flower Market will be closed on Thursday 26 January 2017 for the Australia Day public holiday.

If you parking permit only allows access on a day where a public holiday falls, and would like to come to the Market on an alternative adjacent day (for example your parking permit is for a Thursday and you would like to access the Market on either Tuesday 24 January or Saturday 28 January), you will not be charged for parking and can enter the Market. However please note, your regular bay may not be available. Please seek instruction from a Market Relations Officer on arrival.

Valentine’s Day 2017

Are you ready for love?  With Valentine’s Day only a month away, the Melbourne Market in conjunction with Flowers Victoria are here to help you.

This year’s marketing campaign is sophisticated and is designed to challenge men to buy flowers for their loved one.

This year we want the campaign to go viral. All florists are encouraged to use this campaign, as the more we get the campaign out there, the more impact it will have to drive Valentine’s day sales.

We need your help to drive the #realmensendflowers hashtag.

To assist we have developed a suite of material for florists to use including:

• point of sale posters,*
• gift wrap stickers – designed to encourage the recipient to post a photo of their flowers,
• Facebook and Instagram tiles,
• website banners, and
• a list of additional marketing ideas to drive sales on Valentine’s Day

*Available for purchase at the Flower Market on Thursday 19^th Jan from 4am.

The campaign will complimented with radio and social media advertising. So help us drive the sales of flowers this Valentine’s Day and support the #realmensendflowers movement!

VicRoads is warning all drivers to plan ahead as extensive roadworks will be carried out across Melbourne between 26 December 2016 and 25 January 2017. Electronic road signs and advice about alternative routes will help guide drivers through the work zones and detours.

Save the Date: Chinese New Year 2017

2017 is the year of the Fire Rooster, and while Chinese New Year falls on Saturday 28 January, the Market will be celebrating with a traditional lion dance touring the Market on Tuesday 31 January from 5:00am.
