Market News
Happy holidays from the MMA
As we come to the end of our first full calendar year at Epping, it’s great to see the Market buzzing with activity and fresh summer produce. We’ve come a long way since the move in August 2015, and we look forward to continuing to work together in 2017.
This week is set to be one of the busiest weeks of the year. With the festive season upon us, we would like to remind all Market users that the sale and consumption of alcohol and drugs is not permitted at the Market. Safety comes first – any person affected by consumption of alcohol or drugs can be ejected from the Market.
We would like to wish all Market users a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year.
To view Market trading hours during Christmas and New Year visit the Melbourne Market website.
This will be our final edition of This Week in the Market for 2017. Weekly updates will resume mid-January. If you require any updates or information during this time contact the MMA on 9258 6100.
Summertime roadworks
VicRoads warning all drivers to plan ahead as extensive roadworks will be carried out across Melbourne from 26 December 2016 to 25 January 2017. Electronic road signs and advice about alternative routes will help guide drivers through the work zones and detours.
To plan ahead, please visit VicTraffic(External link) or download the VicTraffic app.
Tullarmarine Freeway
The Tullamarine Freeway will be closed in both directions between the Calder Freeway and the M80 Ring Road from 10pm Thursday 5 January to 10am Sunday 8 January 2017.
Detours during the closures will be clearly signed and below is a map showing the alternate routes. Click on the map to view a larger image.
For more information on the Tullamarine closures head to the VicRoads website or download the factsheet.
Other closures during this time include the West Gate Bridge, West Gate Freeway, Pakenham Bypass and more. The VicRoads website contains full details of closures as well as maps for alternative routes during this time.
Fees update
On 1 January each year, general Market fees, including access cards and parking, increase by a fixed 4 per cent. This is consistent with annual increases incurred at West Melbourne.
While this increase usually occurs every year, there was no increase applied to general Market fees on 1 January 2016 as we settled into the new site.
Click here to view the schedule of fees as of 1 January 2017.
Store leases and warehouse leases increase 31 August or the anniversary of the lease term annually.
