In this week’s Market News: – Latest coronavirus information – Deep Cleaning on the Buyers’ Walk – Three weeks left to ‘Veg-in this Winter’ Market News Latest Coronavirus (COVID-19) information Over the last week, there has been a significant amount of communications sent out to Melbourne Market users regarding the impacts of stage 4 restrictions. All of our previous communications are kept on the news section of our website. Below is a list of recent subjects covered in our COVID updates. Please click the links below to view communications relating to these topics. – Creating a COVID Safe Plan – Work Permit System – Update on the Melbourne Flower Market – Proper use of Market access cards – How to reduce instances of ‘close contact’ We all have a part to play to ensure the Melbourne Market remains operational, and we must work together to do everything we can to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. The most important thing’s to remember are: – Wear your face mask at all times – Remain at least 1.5 metres from others wherever possible – Regularly wash and sanitise your hands – If you are tested for COVID, do not attend the Market until a negative result is confirmed – If you are unwell, do not attend the Market Detailed information regarding the impacts on Market operations can be found on our website at www.melbournemarket.com.au/melbourne-market-coronavirus-covid-19-response/. Disposal of PPE Please be considerate when disposing of PPE such as face masks and gloves, as incorrect disposal poses a risk to others. It is not acceptable to discard gloves or face masks on the floor within the Market, in the car park, or in toilet bowls. Bins are located throughout the Market for your convenience; please use them. Cleaning Buyers Walk For five days from Monday 17 August between 1.00pm and 5.00pm, heavy-duty machinery will be operating on the Buyers’ Walk to undertake a deep clean of the area. This cleaning is part of the normal schedule of deep cleaning, unrelated to COVID. Cleaning will commence at the northern end (Store 1) on Monday and progressively make its way towards the southern end of the Buyers’ Walk over five days. The equipment is loud and does emit diesel fumes. This may cause discomfort for staff occupying the offices on Level 1 when the machinery is operating in the vicinity. All roller doors will be opened during the works. If you have any further queries in relation to the deep clean, please contact the Help Desk on 0437 006 459. Shop Local to Veg in this Winter There are three weeks left of the “Shop Local to Veg in this Winter!” campaign, and free point of sale material is still available for A Better Choice retailers to pick up from Art & Style. In Victoria, you would have seen and heard the campaign on metropolitan and regional radio stations, and on social media. In these last few weeks of the campaign, the Victorian social media messaging has been adjusted to reflect lockdown restrictions. New content focuses on reminding people that there is no shortage of food at the local greengrocer, with a great selection to choose from. Have you ‘Veged-in’ this winter?
